A little conversation
Goes a long, long way
Open up the channel
Say what you have to say
I came to you for comfort
You sent your messenger
A one-way ticket, no return
The end of me and you
I look at my phone and our friendship bursts into flame
The ashes that fall to my feet are all that remain
A little conversation
Goes a long, long way
Sometimes I do nothing
But think of you all day
I thought that we were family
My thoughts are made of sand
A little conversation
Might have helped me understand
I look at my phone and our friendship bursts into flame
The ashes that fall to my feet are all that remain
I always love Nicky Wire's lyrics - their wisdom, wit, sadness, and rebellion. Wire ages almost painfully gracefully. This particular song feels like it was written for me (it probably wasn't) because of some letters and art I sent or tried to send Wire a long time ago when I was in a mental health crisis. In any case, it seems to be about someone who had the stupid and embarrassing experience of loving a famous stranger they know only from their art. richeychthonic
